Newly appointed National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff has said he will not resign despite calls from various members and groups in the party asking him to quit.

In a statement on Monday, February 22, he called on the aggrieved members of the PDP, who have not yet come to terms with his emergence, to bury the hatchet and join in repositioning the party for the tasks ahead.
Sheriff was reacting to a call by the PDP Rescue Group on Sunday, February 21, urging him to resign his position, saying his appointment was unacceptable to the generality of the people.

The former governor of Borno state said his resignation will not be in the party's interest, more so the National Executive Committee who drafted him to reposition the party.
